dead stuff and not...dead stuff

I've been a busy little bee, except, not being raped by a large queen. This is what I've been pumping out the past few days:

"Batstract"
I started this in 2008 (the red background and the base head...ha. base head). I added the words and all of the...abstractness? IDK.
get it here

"J.E.T.S."
As Curren$y rises to the top as a local hip hop artist, I felt the need to get my ass in flight (is that even something to say?). Though, I went zombie with it. no cranberries.
get it here

"Where the Wild Zombies Are"
I used the trees for the background from the book. The crown is painted in metallic gold. Max ate his mom's brains. He sleeps never.

"Space Jam Dunks"
I painted and cut out the shoe first to get the proportions right After, I pasted it onto the canvas. I really dig the shoe.

look, mom...I'm on mtv .com

So, yesterday I received a text from my dude, Chris, saying "congrats on making it to mtv.com."
I'm like, 'what?'
He sent me the link. Basically, it was a small piece on zombie versions of Beavis & Butt-head.
here"s the link: http://clutch.mtv.com/2011/06/20/beavis-and-butt-dead-6-depictions-of-beavis-and-butt-head-as-zombies/

in other news, I started a new blog: life was better when my penis was smaller.

The NIKE AIR FOOTSCAPE WOVEN CHUKKA “ZEBRA”

Holy shit! This particular woven model really caught my eye. I love the model itself, but the 'zebra' really makes this shoe desirable. The release will be some time in the Summer/Fall of this year, which, I guess could work for either season.

also,
We can't forget about the Black Metallic Vs retroing again...

Art by Blakenetizen

As most of you fine folks can tell, I love pop culture...but, even more than that, I love abstract art even more. I've been following this dude on etsy for a while. He does a bunch of ACEO cards, but also some canvas work. Based out of Chicago, Blakenetizen has been making a name for himself, or at least painting a visual picture.

These are some pieces that I really dig:

Check him out. All of his artwork is reasonably priced. At least, pick up an ACEO. They're pretty bawse!

life is...

So, I haven't been creating much. Lately, I've been looking for a job and new residence. That's about the news I have. I only have 13 followers on here, anyways. Anybody hiring, who sees this, I have every quality, ever.

28 May, 2011

...

Oh, I can finally log in to my goddamn blogspot acct.

maybe I'll post something new soon, as I have lost the burst of inspiration.

20 May, 2011

the newness

Yep. I haz new post.

The other day, I bought 2 paint markers (as they are 2 for $5 at Michael's this week.). I love paint markers. When Sharpie released them, I was hooked. ANYWAYS...these paint markers inspired me to go back to a style I adapted a year ago. I love doing this style of mi el art.

And of course, Pee-Wee stuff...

I was a huge Alfred Hitchcock fan growing up. I blame it on the attraction at Universal Studios. My parents brought me there when I was 7, maybe? Anyways, it blew my mind. I was also fortunate enough to have seen the Ghostbusters thing back in the day. Goddamn memories.

And, because of the rotation "Goblin" has received, here's a new Tyler piece...

Better pics and listings will follow.

Art Market

So, Saturday was the OCH Art Market. I met Midnight Girl Designs, who runs the Etsy NOLA team. I also met Kitsch Me, also from the Etsy NOLA team. Great people!

The turnout wasn't super busy, but there were a few people. Here's what I look like not selling stuff

I always enjoy meeting the other sellers and customers. Be there next month w/Eden Gallery.

ALSO

My friend, John, and I started a new project/shop...I'll keep you posted!

OFWGKTA

So. Tyler, the Creator and the OFWGKTA camp have been getting pretty big since the 'Yonkers' vid came out. That video is what caught my attention in the first place. Tyler raps about some dark stuff, over a simple, yet haunting beat. I was semi-hooked.

Photobucket

Tyler's latest album, "Goblin," came out Tuesday. I've been giving it a few plays. I dig it. I liked "Bastard" (his first album) a little more, though. Anyways...The first track, 'Goblin,' is a pretty straight intro. A almost 7 minute intro, ha.

'Yonkers' is the second track. This is where the popularity came in. Check out the video if you haven't:

The track,'Radicals,' is probably my favorite on the album. The energy and beat are just so great. The little cuts in between choruses and verses kind of weaken the track a bit, IMO...but, it also gives you a slight break before the hardcore atmosphere comes back into play.

'She', featuring Frank Ocean, is a smooth track. The beat is kind of simple. Not a huge fan of this one. The chorus is straight, though.

'Transylvania' would have been better, had the screwed voice wouldn't have been throughout the whole track. Not bad, though. This one will probably grow on me a good bit.

'Nightmare'...the beat hits hard and sounds like a modern 80's B horror score. The verses sound pretty monotone and causes me to lose interest after a while. BUT, the enthusiasm does pick up around the 2 min something mark.

'Tron Cat' is a pretty horrorcore-ish track. A little rapey, ha! There's nothing too speacial about this one. The breaks are nice.

'Her' is Tyler's 'chick' track. Very smooth beat w/some poetic-type rhymes. One of the weaker songs on the album, but not a bad listen.

'Sandwiches'...this track...Every time I see this song performed live, I get so amped. ha. Check out the Jimmy Fallon performance

I love that track /\

'Fish' is another smooth track...about sex time. The verses are a bit lacking, but they fit the beat. At 3:53, it jumps into a new track. Pretty skippable.

'Analog', featuring Hodgy Beats, jumps right into a hard hitting beat and verse. I dig this track. Another 'chick' track, but it's a good one.

'Bitch Suck Dick', featuring Jasper Dolphin and Taco, sounds like it was fun to record. It's all over the place. Not a huge fan of the features, but Tyler comes correct...made me lol a few times. +1

'Window' features Domo Genesis, Frank Ocean, Hodgy Beats, and Mike G. The many features make it overkill, IMO. The beat is mellow. Sounds like a cypher. Pass on this one...unless you want some background music. Eight fucking minutes.

'AU79' is an instrumental track. Starts w/some congo drums and gradually gets some semi-soul and synth. Not bad.

'Golden' is a good aggressive track. This is like a life story song. The lyrics on this one are basically Tyler's life on record...or at least his feelings. Nice outro. I really dig it.

All in all, I think the album had some solid tracks. 6.5 out of 10 works for me.This album will most likely grow on me, though.

In related news, I painted a scene from the 'Yonkers' video. After Tyler eats the roach and throws up.

The original painting is gone, but you can buy posters of it!

music as I listen

While I've been working on a Power Rangers custom and doing little side pieces, this has been what's been in my ears...

I checked out Caribou after seeing his album in Spin's '40 best albums of 2010' or what have you. Great stuff!

I've always enjoyed Cage, and have been anticipating his new album(s). I'd say that his music has always had a good part in my life movie.

I really dig Avi Buffalo's style. I've been trying to fill the void that MGMT's "Congratulations" album couldn't fill :/

and of course, Slick Rick always puts me in a good mood. I miss driving around on a sunny day w/this album on high volumes.

good times.
I'll be painting tonight.

Nintendo & Quas

I've been working on these on the side...these hangable Nintendo pieces and the Quas zombie. All from cardboard. Here's the pics and such:

The Nintendo controller has always been a staple in gaming. I figured this was the best thing to do to the rectangle box top that I had. buy it HERE

You know...I've never even played a Gamecube in my life...I just had the perfect boxtop size for it...so, there you go. buy it HERE

As a huge Stones Throw Records fan, I HAD to make a zombie Quas. I had already painted a zombie Doom. buy it HERE

That's all for now. Still working on a custom for somebody. holler.

22 March, 2011

Wiz's "Rolling Papers"

So, I'm listening to Wiz's new album, "Rolling Papers". Granted, I'm only on track 6, but with the 2 previous singles being in the top 6, you know...skipped. I'm just noticing a more club-like chant chorus album, w/plenty chick tracks. Feels like Atlantic was trying to have the next Drake, but you know...on their label. I really dig Wiz and his style. The Wiz style that I fell in love with stemmed from the "Kush & OJ" mixtape. Yeah, the subject matter revolved around getting high, hanging out w/chicks, and just enjoying life, but that was him. I'm not even the type that gets mad when an indie group signs mainstream. I was happy that he landed a deal. He deserved it.

(further into the album)

BUT, I do know when an album 'sounds' mainstream. The beats are pretty top notch. The choruses and cheesy love tracks are the only downfall...besides Too $hort's verse on 'On My Level'. That beat is hot, though, and reminiscent of 90's Gangsta Rap. 'Star of the Show' is classic Wiz. Harmonizing on the chorus. Slow, but enthusiastic and confident flow. Perfect. 'Fly Solo' has a Cudi vibe to it...which isn't bad. I dig it. 'Rooftops', the Curren$y feature, is one of the best. When Wiz and Curren$y hook up, it's magic. A duo pro album from them would be great. The last track, 'Cameras', was pretty uplifting. The beat is really nice...but, the chorus kills it :/

all in all, for my first listen, I give it a 6.5 out of 10.
it'll either grow on me more, or get really aggravating.
BUT...I still really dig Wiz...don't get it tWIZted...lolz.

ah, enough rant. time to paint!

21 March, 2011

destructive pop childhood

Over the weekend, I painted a few pieces of things from my childhood:

One of the best scenes from the campy 60's Batman movie. I had to do it.

I saw where somebody took Charlie Sheen and parodied the Andrew W.K. pic, so I figured the ORIGINAL party dude would be even cooler!

I LOVED Winnie the Pooh as children...so, this is my 'destructive' homage. GET HONEY
